A wellness benefit that we implemented was encouraging our team to work a 4.5-hour workday. We were inspired by Brian Johnson’s “Productivity 101” course.

The structure of the day includes 1.5 hours of deep focused work, followed by 20 minutes of rest. This cycle is then repeated three times.

This approach supports our ultradian rhythm. Ultradian rhythms are cycles our bodies go through many times a day. After 90 minutes of focused work, your energy drops and you crave a break. During the break, your body rests and recharges, and then repeats the cycle.

During the 20-minute rest periods, we encourage our team to completely switch off and rest their minds. We discourage distractions from phones and instead promote relaxing activities like eating a snack, going for a walk, or meditating.

This practice has improved our team’s overall mental and physical well-being.

CAP Rule Cultivates Health Awareness

All of us are caught up in our high-velocity lives. Health risks have increased significantly, making it neither sufficient nor practical to rely solely on a single health insurance plan. Most health policies are designed to take care of serious medical conditions, it’s true.

Yet, they usually don’t cover healthcare needs on the go, such as recurring back pain, unless you’ve added specific rider benefits. It turns out that I was missing some serious health awareness perks until I joined the team.

Here, we follow the rule of CAP.

What does CAP mean?

CAP stands for Celebrate, Assess, and Prioritize.

We:

3. Prioritize health

Celebrate – Mental health cannot be insured; it can only be promoted with care and awareness. We always celebrate our small wins. These wins can be ordinary, such as someone from our team finishing a health streak of 30 days. We would bring some quick snacks, encourage them, and celebrate it. It’s highly refreshing as I’ve experienced that our work productivity spikes after that.

Assess – Our entire team gets annual health checkups. This checkup also includes dental checkup, eye checkup, and other standard health check-up procedures. For employees working in hybrid mode, we also provide home collection facilities through network hospitals.

Prioritize – We’re always encouraged to prioritize our health first. We are asked to report on our daily health activities, which keeps a close tab on our health performance. If one of us is having back pain, it’s quickly brought to light. As a team, we try to find quick solutions for that, which can be a daily walk or arranging for monthly yoga sessions.
